Peanut Butter Nutella Rice Krispy Treats

Peanut Butter Nutella Rice Krispy Treats

Hello world. So I've been thinking about coming back from my little blog hiatus, can you do that? I mean I know i've been gone for about a year and a half now... is it okay if I just jump back in? Because honestly, it's not that I didn't miss you guys, I've just been a little busy. The whole having 3 kids under 2, than moving across the country for my husband's job, etc next thing you know it's been a year and a half with no post!

Since I'm starting fresh I figured I might as well revamp the whole blog itself... revamped the logo and design... changed the recipe page... did a few rice krispy taste test marathons... it's been a party the past few weeks.

SoooOooOo I hope to reconnect with a bunch of you and keep this boat chugging! Here's to more rice krispy treats in 2015!

Peanut Butter Nutella Rice Krispy Treats

To start off strong lets have a combo no one can resist: Peanut Butter Nutella. There are a few things in life that were just made for each other:

- Milk and cookies
- Salsa and chips
- Bacon and eggs
- Peanut butter and jelly
- Butter and sugar

I'd like to add another one to this list: Peanut Butter and Nutella. Be still my heart.

Have you ever had these 2 together? Now I know this might seem a little calorically heavy considering they are 2 nut butters... strong emphasis on the butter... but I'm telling you this may be one of the best things that has ever happened to me.

It's like eating a Reese's Peanut Butter, but better. In a way only 2 open jars, a spoon, and me sitting on the couch watching The Bachelor, can make it

Anyways... here's to more sugar highs soon in our future!

Peanut Butter Nutella Rice Krispy Treats

4 Tbsp butter
1/2 cup peanut butter
6 cups marshmallows
1 tsp vanilla
6 cups rice krispies
1/2-3/4 cup peanut butter chips (optional... but not really)
2 cups Nutella (for the frosting/ganache topping... I'm not sure what to call this)

Pour the rice krispies and peanut butter chips in a large mixing bowl. Set aside.

Melt the butter and peanut butter together in a saucepan over medium heat until melted.
Turn the heat down to the lowest setting and add the marshmallows. Stir until the marshmallows are almost all melted. (this will take a few minutes--low and slow is key for perfect texture) Add the vanilla and continue melting.

Once fully melted, take them off heat and pour over the rice krispies. Stir lightly to combine. Dump into a lightly greased 9x9 pan and let sit 5 minutes. Then go and press into the pan with lightly greased hands.  Allow them to cool about 20 minutes, meanwhile warm the Nutella in the microwave for about 20 seconds (or until liquidy and stirrable). Pour it over top the cooled treats and allow to cool
and thicken another 20 minutes or so. Enjoy!
