The Cool Kids Club
Can I just make a shout out?
I submit my pictures to a few different food sites every week. Despite my lack of skill, they get accepted by most sites. Except for 2. Yes you guessed it: Foodgawker and Tastespotting. Those guys are hardcore.
About a week ago I finally broke into the world of Foodgawker when they accepted my Apple Cider picture. But still nothing but rejection from Tastespotting. My feelings towards them were summed up in this song.

Snowball Rice Krispy Treats
So this is our first Christmas as a family of 3, meaning its important that we begin establishing some family traditions. (Because our 8 month old child is reeeally going to remember what happened this year) So far we have a list of Christmas stories to read, Santa visiting to do, gingerbread houses to make, etc, etc. One new tradition my husband wants to start is going to visit the snow during the holiday season.

Sugar Cookie Rice Krispy Treats
Holidays. They are supposed to be the season of love, kindness, charity etc, etc.. right? I had an experience the other day that really tested my goodwill towards man.
So I'm at the grocery store (surprise!) and it's a madhouse. The lines are terrible. For some reason everyone's inner Betty Crocker comes out during the holidays. People that haven't turned on the oven in a year are all of a sudden whipping out things like stuffed goose, cheese souffles, gingerbread trifles... meaning twice the normal grocery store traffic.

Apple Cider Rice Krispy Treats
I feel like Apple Cider is the classier version of apple juice. The Grey Poupon of yellow mustard. The Filet Mignon of gound beef. High Class.
Like when you're on an airplane and apple juice is always one of the beverages offered--I'm pretty sure that in first class they are offering apple cider instead of apple juice... probably in a fluted glass, with pebble ice... I'm going to make it up there one day.

Peppermint Bark Rice Krispy Treats
So... some girls from my church recently talked me into doing a half marathon. I don't know how it happened. One minute I was sitting happily at a 1 year old's birthday party, pretending to feed my little one the treats while secretly eating them myself, when next thing I knew I was discussing mile times and running gear with the other moms there. By the time I got home I had committed to a 2 month training program and half marathon with these girls. Wait! What just happened? All I wanted was see the birthday girl open our Mr. Potato Head present and eat a piece of cake! How am I now signed up for a stinking half marathon!?! I walked in the door in a semi daze and informed my husband I'm never going to another birthday party again.
