So when I was in college I had this slight love affair with Pay Days. You know the candy bar? Not sure if I was just tricking myself into thinking they were slightly healthy because of all the peanuts or what but I couldn't get enough of them. Luckily at that point in my life I followed a pretty regular exercise schedule (and was still blessed with a young, speedy metabolism) Flash forward 10 or so years... and not so much.

Rocky Road Rice Krispy Treats
Ok, wow, can I just say it's good to be back. I'm sure none of you've noticed, but I've been MIA the past 2 weeks. What happened? Let's just sum it up with me having No Internet. Zip. We switched up our internet provider and somehow there was a 10 day gap between our services. I don't know how it happened. It felt like I was living in the Dark Ages. I was reading by candlelight, cooking dinner over an open fire, pumping water from a well... ok I'm exaggerating but I'm pretty sure the experience compares to an apocalypse.
So moving on. Happy Mother's Day!!! Don't some foods just invoke memories of certain people? For example, Rocky Road ice cream will always make me think of my mom.

Butter Pecan Rice Krispy Treats
Now first I must say these are not the most beautiful treats I've ever made. I guess you can't tell by the pictures, but they have a funny brownish tinge from the pecan butter. But you know, some things you just can't judge by appearance: Susan Boyle... McDonald's dollar menu... My high school yearbook photo. Ahem. Yes, you definitely can't judge a book by it's cover. These treats are good. Period.

Snowball Rice Krispy Treats
So this is our first Christmas as a family of 3, meaning its important that we begin establishing some family traditions. (Because our 8 month old child is reeeally going to remember what happened this year) So far we have a list of Christmas stories to read, Santa visiting to do, gingerbread houses to make, etc, etc. One new tradition my husband wants to start is going to visit the snow during the holiday season.
